Photographs

Your photograph, together with your choice of wording, are glazed onto the plate. The finish is similar to your dinner plate or coffee mug. This is not sublimation (a form of printing on china which quickly fades, nor do we take a photo and glue it to the plate and cover it with resin which some people offer!

We can work with any type of image: digital is best, but we can scan an older photograph. We have a Photoshop expert who can work with old black and white photos, removing scratches and other imperfections. We convert the image to a circle to fit the plate.

The examples on our website use professionally taken photographs. If you send us a photo, please be aware that we cannot work miracles!

If you send us an old black and white photo of a wedding 50 years ago we can usually remove any scratches and imperfections. However, if you are sending a recent photo of someone with black hair and the background is very dark, the hair is not going to stand out.

We can convert the image into a circle to fit the plate, so there is no need for you to do this.

Ideally the image should be a jpeg, or any format that can be opened in PhotoShop. The dpi (dots per inch) should ideally be at least 300. The image should be large enough to fit the space on the plate. We can of course increase the size, but the image will be then often look blurred.

If in doubt you can always send the photo for us to look at before ordering.

We offer 3 types of plate, all are white bone china:

• A rim plate, diameter 7.5 inches/18cm;
• The same plate but with a silver edge;
• The same plate with a gold edge.

Photographs do not look so good on a coupe plate, but we can use one if you insist.

Price: from £22.50 plus P&P depending on the type of plate - full details in the drop-down box below. Our costs in glazing a photograph are considerably higher and the price reflects this. Plates with our stock designs cost less.

Delivery: plates with photographs take longer to make. Your plate will be posted 4 days after we receive your order.
